Photographers turned foodies. It’s fascinating how every conversation seems better with food’s divine presence. Overwhelmed as I was, I was not bothered by the fact that the people I was talking with did not even exist in my cranial consciousness till last night, as real persons lol. It actually never occurred to me that I would meet them THAT soon.
At first, it was a bit awkward not knowing anybody in the group personally, but due to the event going on, and the fact that it was the first time I stepped into the new mall (applause here), the atmosphere was a little too jovial for me to feel bashful.
As is turns out, jokes are as abundant in real life as they are in the forums, which is quite surprising since I was expecting a more serious bunch, but was great nevertheless. As in any social group, there are the usual personalities: the talkative one, the one liner comedian, the serious one, the joker, the buddies joined at the navel, and etc..
Second day: Leysam Foodies
The event started at around noon, and I was lucky enough to arrive by then, breaking the 11am promise of presence. Lecture = Winner! (Applause for Mr. Charlie David Martinez). I assume everybody was enthusiastic because this was the first time a lecture was held by the LSF. I’m so lucky.
Next stop: Bethel International School. Food = Winner! (Applause for mano Tito)
I will then be stating the obvious fact: These people LOVE food, perhaps at a level at par with their passion for photography (who knows). There was seldom a dull moment, for animated conversations filled the air as long as there was chow on the plate. The table is a photoshoot, the forks are the cameras. It was quite homey for a first-time gathering with the other members. Somehow it was not that awkward, considering I was new (by this time i have arrived to the conclusion that i must be extremely FC). (FC = Feeling Close)

(yummy BBQ!)

(Puso)

(Tacloban’s BBQ at night)
Next Stop: Sunzi and Manang’s. Food = Winner! (as always. applause for kuya Alfred)

(Manang, owner of famous BBQ stand in Tacloban City)
Photography and food: happiness and fulfillment under the sun, moon, or the pale glow of a fluorescent light. Better together.
