LSF shoots the Alang-Alang’s Market Day

Two of our most active members hail from the town of Alang-Alang, Leyte. And these guys are the host (hostess so they say?) of our quick photoshoot at this exciting and colorful town. Wilbur & Brandom prepared for us a very good itinerary, and a native “hatok” chicken with rice awaited the hungry photographers after. It was extra special because one of our members from Guam was in town with us, a hardcore photographer and food expert (hmmm, sounds fun huh?), her name is Sherry BTW.

Surely, Alang-Alang was a memorable place to shoot, and LSF will be back this February for another shoot (and food trip!).

Bombo Radyo Philippines Star FM 95.1 interviewed LSF’s handsome President Jude Millanes and the dashing and ever-active Execom Chair Trisha Papagitan. The interview focused on how LSF is bringing photography closer to the hobbyists & enthusiasts of Leyte & Samar, they also discussed about the upcoming big event — “Through the Eyes of the Masters” – a 2-day photography seminar-workshop on portraiture by renowned master photographers – father & daughter tandem – Ibarra & Dail Deri. The LSF army head to the bustling graveyards and cemetery yesterday, as the Christian community celebrate All Souls Day (”Undas”) to honor their beloved dead. This is an exhibit of snapshots showing the practice of the tradition as well as the colorful happenings that come about it.

Just Another Fun in the Sun with LSF!

It’s official! LSF joins the STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY campaign! I, along with some other members of the club, proudly stand with a camera in one hand, and a carton of Nestlé Chuckie in the other. You’ve gotta love healthy camera people.

I awoke to a chilly, gray morning, got all my warm clothes out, and arrived at the scene to a saffron sun in the pretty cerulean, and I was in my jeans. Perfect. It was a great day for the adventure race. The heat was not too conducive for warm up, and the racers were sprawled across the grass, chilling out (or at least trying to) to get rid of the jitters. It was pleasing to see quite a number of cyclists and racers participating in the event, and their enthusiasm was mind blowing, and so was the heat.

After the opening program and the start of the race, the club then went to different control points, and clicked away, happily ever after till whatever time that was. It’s such a shame I am controlled of the one-eyed curfew monster.

And once again, a new place, a new friend, and food. Happy times with the LSF.

October 17, 2009. 9 a.m. – It was one of the most worthwhile events the club has been part of. Leysamfoto pledged, together with the rest of the world, its commitment to STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY. The event was hosted by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Lihok Bisaya Movement and was supported by the Provincial Government of Leyte, the Municiplaity of Palo lead by there local chief executive Mayor Sevilla and the long list of non-government organizations and civic groups. Event highlights took place at the Palo quadrangle. It was an all-in-one showcase of arts, culture, as well as the highlighted adrenaline-packed adventure race, the KAUSWAGAN CHALLENGE 2009 with which LSFers find most exciting and challenging despite the heat of the afternoon sun. The club also staged a mini photo exhibit of poverty-themed collections at the Palo Municipal Hall, that drew both attention and commendations from both the organizing bodies and the guests. This event commenced the connection between LSF and NCCA as we are now OFFICIALLY registered with the institution. We specially thank Mr. Nestor de Veyra of the NCCA and Atty. Ronnan Reposar for tapping and recognizing our talents and importance. LSF continued its official coverage until the 18th as the KAUSWAGAN Challenge 2009 came to its final lap and the winners received their much deserved POT of GOLD. The whole event ended with a boomed out Awarding and Cultural Night which was 100% entertainment held at the Palo Quadrangle. The artistry showdown opened by a “SIDAY” (poem) delivered by Mayor Teodoro Sevilla, then presentations by the Palo dance troupe, The impressive String ensemble and rondalla, and famous local music bands Rah Rah Rousers , Ethnic Rock band, “Kulahig” and “Bolingling”. and Here are some captures!
